Telephone Reassurance Program
This program provides a preventative support system for residents. The Telephone Reassurance Program matches a volunteer to a local resident to simply check-in via phone, text, or email, providing a sense of comfort and reassurance to the resident and his family. The vetted volunteers are trained to determine how to
proceed if the phone is not answered or if there are concerns that arise during
*Members will be able to select their own schedule of calls.
Some members may not need the daily call for security (e.g. May only be lacking
support at home on weekends).
Many of the volunteer phone callers are also
seniors who wish to contribute to the community but can’t participate in more
strenuous activities. This increases their sense of well-being and involvement in the community, as well as reducing isolation both for the volunteers and the
individuals they call.
Participants in the Telephone Reassurance Program must be over 60
years of age. Participants can be younger than 60 years if they have a
disability, recent injury affecting mobility, or are otherwise home bound.
Home Safety and Fire Safety Programs
Community Village Lawrence has partnered with the
Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical Department to provide participants with
home safety and fire safety home checks. Services will be completed by
Lawrence-Douglas County firefighters. Participants will be able to request
these services through Community Village Lawrence.

· Fire safety inspections
· Group education: Fire and Fall Prevention Program for Older Adults, made available by the National Fire Protection Association
